Our NASA MEaSUREs Project

Vegetation Phenology and Vegetation Index Products from Multiple Long Term Satellite Data Records

ESDR products validation

In collaboration with the, newly established (University of Arizona housed), national phenology network (USA-NPN) we plan to correlate these remote sensing based estimates of VI and phenology with ground observations. We aim at evaluating the consistency and accuracy of these products by comparing them with in situ growing season phenophases observations over different biomes, latitudinal and elevation gradients.
This collaboration will help us leverage from the NPN/University of New Hampshire PhenoCam canopy phenology monitoring effort.
A network of RGB/IR cameras and other sensors will monitor the growing season on a regular basis to assist in the validation effort. The validation effort will leverage from ongoing national and international efforts, particularly the ones lead by the US-NPN.
